On the 16th June 2021 there were 58,718 plugins in the wordpress.org plugin repository.
At the WordPress Portsmouth Meetup – 15 Jan 2020 – some people were searching for a plugin to help improve the display of Archives / Categories when the list was very long.
In response to a question at the WordPress Portsmouth Meetup – Hands on Problem Solving clinic, here’s the top 20 plugins which include spam in their plugin name or short description.
On 15th January 2020 there were 55,310 plugins when I started to perform the extract. 55,311 before it finished! An increase of over 10 plugins per day.
Over 2000 plugins have been updated so far this year.
There are no changes in the top 12.
